Comparison
Even Though we live in different times we are similar in many ways.
Communication and Writing
Similarities Ancient Egyptians wrote on papyrus paper made from papyrus plant, we write on paper, cardboard, computers electronics and the they wrote with reed pens and stones, we right with pens and pencils. There are some similarities that you can find in what they used and what we use in 2014 but improved over 7,500 years ago. They wrote in hieroglyphics, we write in english using the alphabet, even though they are two different ways to right they are similar, for example they have symbols to represent a letter so do we, they make up words with the hieroglyphics, so do we but with the english alphabet. Differences Being able to read and write in Ancient Egypt was a privilege as only a group of people had the knowledge to read and write, but in Modern times, most children have to go to school and learn to read and write but the Ancient Egyptians didn't have that option. The Egyptians write down things like Ancient Egypt Literature, which is stories, poems, historical and biographical texts and scientific treatises: mathematical and medical texts, but nowadays we write down almost everything that we learn and need to know or remember. |
Health Issues
Injuries/illnesses
In Ancient Egypt they had some knowledge about how to treat a ill or injured person and how to do surgery but obviously they didn't have all the knowledge they needed. Us in the modern day definitely have a lot more knowledge in this area as we have built on the knowledge the Ancient Egyptian had around this topic. Sanitation and Nutrition Sanitation was a lot worse then than it is now, although it wasn't all that bad then. Most of the Ancient Egyptians had bathrooms in their houses and most houses in the 20th century have bathrooms in their homes but obviously the state of their bathrooms would of been a bit worse than they are now. Only the richest people were lucky enough to get a flushing toilet as it was a luxury to have one but now almost every toilet is flushable. They got their water from the Nile River which isn't a good source of water as the Nile RIver is and was very polluted but nowadays our water is fresh and clean. Life expectancy The Milestone for Ancient Egyptians was forty years of age, which in this time at forty is a young age to die as the life expectancy in New Zealand is 81 Years of age. |
Even though it has been over 7,500 years there are still many similarities to how they did things and how we do things now. This shows that things do change over year but somethings more than others. We have developed a lot since the Ancient times but we haven't stopped there we are still developing and building on things we have yet to find.
